Applied Neuroscience
Brainclinics also carries out applied neuroscience research. A small summary of some of our current studies:

• Electroencephalographic, personality and executive function measures associated with frequent mobile phone use: This is the first naturalistic / epidemiological study to study the effects of long term mobile phone use on the EEG and neuropsychological function (without acute exposure). This study was just accepted for publication in the International Journal of Neuroscience
• Investigating the potential diagnosis and neurofeedback treatment of dyslexia. In this study - in collaboration with the Radboud University - we are investigating the added value of EEG and neuropsychological tests in the diagnosis of dyslexia and the potential of neurofeedback treatment for dyslexia.
• Longitudinal study in 100 elderly with subjective memory complaints: Potential implications for the diagnosis of MCI and Alzheimer's disease. In this study we follow a group of 100 elderly people with subjective memory complaints longitudinally. Currently we are in the third year of the study and we have assessed them on QEEG, ERP and neuropsychological tests yearly.
• EEG and Neuropsychological findings in burnout syndrome . In this study we assessed patients with burnout syndrome on EEG and neuropsychological variables and found a pattern not related to depression or chronic fatigue synrdome, suggesting a specific abnormality in burnout syndrome. This study was performed in collaboration with HSK and the Radboud University Nijmegen.
• Effects of different Biofeedback training procedures on quantative Electroencephalographic parameters of healthy subjects. In this study we try to etsablish the effects of Slow Cortical Potential (SCP) training, Sensorimotor Rhythm (SMR) training and Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) training on the QEEG and the interrelations between these treatment modalities, since these have been shown to have good effects in the treatment of epilepsy.
